SoulCycle Coral Gables: Review
Hi guys! I have a treat for all you locals to Miami! This past week I was invited to take a SoulCycle class at the new spot in Coral Gables (they call it #COGA), located in the Village of Merrick Park. I have never ever taken a SoulCycle class so I was soooo excited to head over there. My friends have been raving about it for years and I couldn’t wait to get started.
Before I get into the class, I want to take a moment to mention the facilities. I know people talk about how expensive classes can be, but you can absolutely justify the prices when you consider the quality of the equipment and facilities. The space is extremely clean and well organized. There are walls of lockers with no charge to use them.
Best part? THE BATHROOMS. The showers have all the supplies you need, the toilet stalls have tampons (every gal appreciates that)/hair ties/air freshener, and the sinks have razors/shaving cream/more hair ties/spray deodorant/face wash/lotion/other things I can’t remember. You can tell they really put the effort into the amenities.
Another bonus: with all these amenities, you can definitely take a class and then shower and get ready to head to work. You don’t need to rush back home and do it all there, they have everything at the studio for you! Major timesaver.
Okay enough about the studio–let’s get to the class! So after I got my clip-in shoes I entered the studio, which was being prepped for class. The lights were low and there were candles lit around the edge of the teacher’s platform. The mood was calm. I found my bike (they are numbered) and saw that there was a staff member there waiting to help set up my bike. THANK GOD BECAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I’M DOING. She got me all fitted and I was ready to go.
Zack was the teacher of the class I took, and he. was. awesome. His energy was high, he helped explain positions, and he made first-timers like myself feel welcome and comfortable. We got riding, the music started getting louder, and then…
the beat dropped in and the whole class was basically dance-riding. I did not expect that, and I loved it!
We went through 45 minutes of riding and some arm work and I will say that the class was incredibly motivating. I took a spin class once and thought I was dying midway (this is not a joke) so I’ve always been apprehensive about spin-related classes ever since. SoulCycle, however, pushed me out of that fear and had me drenched by the end!
I don’t want to ruin any surprises for those that have yet to try SoulCycle, but there was a point towards the end of class where you have time to yourself to really focus on you, and I will say that was my favorite part. This is where some people find their demons and address them, or others dig deep to find their true motivation…this is where that “SoulCycle is a religion” idea comes from, and I totally get it now!
I highly recommend trying SoulCycle out, wherever the closest location is to you. Those in Miami, head over to Coral Gables for a good workout! And mention you heard it from me 😉
Have you ever tried SoulCycle? What did you think?
Disclaimer: I was provided a complimentary SoulCycle class in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own!
