filming with a bear, meal prep, + sweatUSA
Hey guys, happy Monday! Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was busy with my first long run (5 miles), sewing drapes, meeting a friend for dinner in Fort Lauderdale, and filming with a bear. Yes, that’s what I said.
For those of you who follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter (and if you don’t, GET ON IT! I post gems that aren’t always on the blog, you don’t want to miss out), you have seen my little teaser of a photo.
One of my friends is in a master’s program for film at the University of Miami, so naturally I will be joining in on all his filming projects over the next 2+ years. This was his first one and I’m so excited to see what he comes up with as time goes on.
This project was a public service announcement for the issue of deforestation. His concept is that bears are losing their homes left and right, leaving them no choice but to join modern civilization. This results in the bear showing up in random, everyday situations. My scene involved the bear unexpectedly spotting me at the gym. It was so fun! If it’s posted on YouTube I’ll be sure to include the link so you can see my film debut.
In other news, one of my new favorite blogs, Hello Stripes, surprised me today by making my mediterranean chicken stir-fry recipe!!! She was a smarty-pants and made a double batch to plan ahead for the week. Way to make me look like a slacker, Niki. I could never get my act together to make multiple meals at once.
Finally, there’s a cool event coming to Miami this upcoming Columbus Day weekend. It’s called SweatUSA, and it’s a fitness expo featuring Jillian Michaels from The Biggest Loser, Shawn T from the Insanity program, and Tony Horton from the P90X program. Aside from the group classes that each of them will teach, there will be CrossFit, Flywheel, Zumba, poolside yoga + pilates, indoor surfing, and more. It’s kind of pricey for a ticket, but I’m hoping the fitness gods out there might extend me an invite to attend and blog about it?! Anyone have any connections?! Help a girl out!
If you could pick ANY fitness class to try out (and you can get creative), what would it be?
