bridal bootcamp: we made it happen!
My summer of visitors and travel has officially come to an end. With bridal showers, house guests, and bachelorette parties, I have had something busy planned each weekend since mid-June. This past weekend was quite the way to end it! Thirteen of us traveled from near and far to Nantucket, pretty much the most picturesque beach town. I was blown away with how perfect everything looked, from the homes all the way down to the visitors–everyone was good looking.
We had relaxing days at the beach and the pool, followed by sassy bachelorette activities and checking out the local bars at night. It was a rare moment that thirteen girls had a total blast without anything dramatic happening! But one of the more wholesome activities of the weekend was…
I’ve posted about ideas for fitness-related bachelorette parties before, and this bride really wanted to make it happen. I was so happy we found the time to fit it in! Everyone laced up their sneakers and we went a couple blocks away to Children’s Beach, a great field and beach along the water.
I put them through a 45-minute workout with burpee contests, lunge walks, sprints, and push-ups. To shake things up, I threw in a contest for the bride and her sisters…suicide sprints!
What made this the most ridiculous activity was that at the same time, on that same field, a puppet show named “Monster Alley” was starting. The group proceeded to refer to me as Monster Ali. Quite fitting. The puppets started singing to the kids about making sure you chew your food slowly–the perfect playlist for bootcamp, don’t you think?!
It was a nice change of pace to have an exercise class thrown into a bachelorette weekend. It got everyone moving, laughing, and burning off the booze from the night before.
…and just for good measure, here’s a little photo of the fun the blushing bride had:
