stand-up paddleboarding + weekend recap
Hey guys! You may have noticed I was Silent Susie on Friday, but that’s because it was my birthday! I pretty much had my dream birthday–it involved stand-up paddleboarding with my best friend from high school (visiting from NY), green juice, happy hour with the ladies, and dinner out with my husband.
The paddleboarding was a last-minute decision because the weather finally started to cooperate. We quickly bought a Groupon, made an appointment, and raced over there. We dipped into Jugofresh, the hottest juice bar in Miami right now, and picked up some juice to fuel us for the two-hour adventure on the water.
I opted for the green montana, a juice with cucumber, romaine, pear, kale, chard, ginger, lime, and himalayan sea salt. My friend got the pina libre, which consisted of apple, pineapple, kale, lime, and ginger. They were both delicious!
Onto the paddleboarding. The best kind of weather for paddleboarding is calm and non-windy. It seemed to be just fine, but as we progressed, there was a serious current. That meant an intense workout! We were paddling our hearts out on the way back, hoping we’d make it back within our two hour timeframe. We had ten minutes to spare. To anyone who is curious about what kind of a workout paddleboarding is, it really worked our arms, core, and legs. Both of us admitted to feeling a little sore the next day!
Confession: we hit up Jugofresh a second time.
Saturday was my backyard birthday bash! We went old-school with a kid’s pool, corn hole set, badminton net, goodie bags, and ice cream cake with chocolate crunchies. It was such a great day with friends from near and far.
Did anyone else celebrate a birthday this weekend? Any other exciting happenings?
