Be not afraid of growing slowly, be afraid only of standing still.”
TGIF! I have an amazing weekend ahead filled with family, friends, and showering a bride-to-be! I recently stumbled upon this quote (thank heavens for Pinterest) and it spoke to me. There have been days where I think I’m making no progress, whether it be with my career, my own personal fitness, or even building relationships and keeping in touch with far-away family and friends. Sometimes I think that certain choices or actions are too small to make a difference, just not grand enough to provide the results I want. But what I don’t realize is that no matter what I do, I’m at least doing something to make a sliver of progress.
I was just talking with a friend about flexible schedules and how easily time can fly by and you haven’t gotten a single thing to show for it. It’s way too easy to fall into a lazy trap. What this quote taught me is that any active choice I make is at least helping me grow; it’s keeping me from being stagnant. I am able to recognize the changes I want to make, and anything, big or small, can slowly bring me there.
With all the twists and turns I’ve made on my way to a personal training career, the dots are finally starting to connect. I’m not afraid to admit that I’m growing slowly, but I’m just happy that I’m growing.
What small steps are you making to further your growth?
